Tower Chamber Choir

President: Michael Nicholas

Conductor: Christopher Borrett

The Tower Chamber Choir is a non-liturgical concert choir based at St Mary-le-Tower. It was founded in 2001 to give a performance of Bach’s St John Passion on Good Friday of that year. It has since given two or three concerts every year, mainly in St Mary-le Tower Church.

The choir performs a wide repertoire, ranging from Ockeghem to MacDowell. Most notably the choir has performed works such as Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem, Martin Mass for Double Choir; Schütz Musicalische Exequiven; Poulenc Gloria and J.S. Bach St Matthew Passion.

It does not have a regular rehearsal night but meets for some five or six rehearsals in a short period before a concert. Its auditioned members are experienced choral singers from across the county of Suffolk and beyond.

Applications from new singers are always welcome. If you are interested in learning more or auditioning, please contact our Director of Music, Christopher Borrett
